Sad time for us in Kokomo
Imagine my shock when I went to work Friday morning and opened the newspaper, and the headline was "Kokomo soldier killed in Iraq". Rickey E Jones who was with the 101st Airborne Division was killed along with 3 others north of Baghdad.
The sad thing is I knew him from going to the high school I work at. Him and my son are the same age and went to school together. He was a really great kid, and I am so sorry for his family. Our Mayor did state until midnight of the day of the funeral, all flags are to be flown at half-mast in respect for him. His arrangements are still pending. Just not a thing a mother with a son in Iraq wants to see in the headlines!! -Pam |

Re: Sad time for us in Kokomo
Pam,
How about making a condolence scrapbook for his family. I could help you with it. I got involved in making condolence books for our Gold Star families through Marine Familes Online_In Action. I can gather electronic condolences from cyber patriots all over the country, add patriotic graphics and email them to you. You would only need to print them out and put them in to a scrapbook. These books really mean a lot to the families and it's a wonderful way to honor Ricky's memory. IM me if you want more info. -Pat |

Re: Sad time for us in Kokomo
Thanks for all your condolences. But have to add, this has not been a dignified laying to rest of one our fallen soldiers. And it is tearing me apart to add, that this fine upstanding Sgt. of the Army, well, his family has being harrased from the time the word got out he died. Their house has got egged, they have gotten numerous phone calls saying that they was glad their son was dead ect...
But don't want to get on that much. With the help of ClutterbusterNY, I have been getting a lot of condolence letters, poems ect. from all over the U.S. I am putting them in a book (s) to give to Rickeys' mom. If any of you from this site would like to add a letter or whatever, send it to her, or my personal email. I am giving at work, because I added a notice there, a March 10th deadline. so I guess the same for here. -Pam |
