When I was OJT with 2nd ITU back in '81 (I think it was that year), a Gunny told me about an amphib operation in the RVN that was a brutal battle. He told me that the Marines did alot of asskicking and took alot of casualties in return.

I remember him telling me that, in some cases, the entire remainder of rifle companies could fit into the back on 1 or 2 6x trucks.
