You need to be straight up honest with them. What by chance if you do tell them no and the person that is interviewing you has read this thread? If you are honest you will have nothing to hide in the future when you try to get a security clearence. As said before if you are not honest, it will come back to bite you in the butt. Integrity is everything. Admit to your mistakes and take the consequences of your actions. That will display true character. If you hide this and it comes out later you will not be trusted in the future, quite possible when you need to be trusted.
