I always thought the best market for e-readers was the text book market. A student buys one e-reader and then buys the various books as software that can be loaded into the reader. Bring up the "book" needed for study or class, no more stacks of books to carry.
The books themselves would be much cheaper due to no need for printing. And if the software was distributed via download only to subscribed readers only, then there's a guarenteed resale and no used book sales, that would drive the initial price even lower.
I assume that much the same could be done with books created from e-paper..but would be much more difficult to manage.
