Imagine my shock when I went to work Friday morning and opened the newspaper, and the headline was "Kokomo soldier killed in Iraq". Rickey E Jones who was with the 101st Airborne Division was killed along with 3 others north of Baghdad.
The sad thing is I knew him from going to the high school I work at. Him and my son are the same age and went to school together. He was a really great kid, and I am so sorry for his family.
Our Mayor did state until midnight of the day of the funeral, all flags are to be flown at half-mast in respect for him. His arrangements are still pending.


Just not a thing a mother with a son in Iraq wants to see in the headlines!!
