The story of the 2 finger salute, as I heard it:
The french put out a bounty on English longbowmen after the battle because of the casualties that the "commoner" bowmen had inflicted upon the "noble" french knights.
Those that were captured and had their ransom paid were released only after having the 2 fingers they pulled the bowsting with chopped off so they couldnt use the weapon against the french again.
So, when Englishmen wanted to piss on a frenchman they'd show em both their string pullers were still attached by holding them up and waving em at the french.
Some say that when Winston Churchill was flashing his "v for victory" it was really the 2 finger bowman's salute that just got misinterpreted.
