I met a master gunnery sergeant* who had 28 years in the Corp and was headed to 30. BTW, Marines like the word to be capitalized. So do I.

You actually have a better chance staying in the Corp a long time as enlisted rather than as an officer. I guess a bunch of us are responding here.

*He was not very tall and I kidded him that he was running out of shirt sleeve for all his hashes and stripes. He pretty much walked on water.
