It's natural to change your mind and have second thoughts after making a big decision. The key is to make an informed decision - do your reseach and soul searching first, then decide. That way, when those doubts come you can go back to the reasons why you decided to join in the first place.

That's part of the trouble -- it requires making an adult decision. Some 18 & 19 year olds can do that, and some can't. Hell, some still can't when they're 24 or 25... make that 40 or 45 for some folks... The difference is that adults are (or should be) held accountable for their decisions.
