I wonder what component his friend has enlisted in...seems like AD , but he didn't make any reference. If he's AD, then the above advice is sound.....and dead on. Interestingly enough, if he enlisted in the Army National Guard, things work a bit differently, as soon as he is sworn in , he's going to have a more difficult time getting out of it, not impossile, just difficult.
