Staff report
Tuesday Jan 16, 2007 16:46:05 EST

A Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C.-based squadron is scheduled to return from a six-month deployment to Iwakuni, Japan, Wednesday, according to an air station press release.

The Silver Eagles of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115 dropped more than 320,000 pounds of ordnance while conducting air-to-ground training on Okinawa.

During the deployment, the squadron of F/A-18 Hornets also trained with Air Force F-15 Strike Eagles and F-16 Fighting Falcons, Japanese F-15 Eagles and F-4 Phantoms, Korean F-16s and F-4s and other Marine Corps aircraft.

A detachment from Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 will also return with VMFA-115. Marines with that detachment provided intermediate-level maintenance support for the squadron’s jets.
