You will do infantry OSUT training at fort Benning and earn the MOS of either 11b or 11c. Next you attend airborne (If you fail you will go to a leg unit with your infantry MOS.) Next you go to SFAS but you will do some training in a “phase 0” program first so you aren’t at a technical disadvantage to in service applicants. If you fail here then you will stay on brag as an airborne infantryman (which still puts you in fairly elite standings).
Secondly you should be aware that 24-55 weeks is just the time requirement for the MOS school, not core SF courses and language training. Tack on optional coerces like ranger school, dive school, or target interdiction and it could be two years before you get to an ODA.
I’m posting all this because you are in the “thinking about joining” group, SR-25. I thought that you might want to know before you go to a recruiter. For more data… http://www.bragg.army.mil/specialforces/

Currently my two sons are in the 18X program. They both enlisted in July 2003, and they have about 8 to 9 months to go. I contacted the local recruiter today for a friend. On the Goarmy.com website it doesn't mention the 18X program.
Do you know if they still offer it? The other day I saw a posting from a guy who said he went through the program in 1984. Do you know when if first started?
