Re: Do many WO's apply for OCS?
Just my two cents on the subject, AS a WO and being an aviator I once thought of applying for OCS then as I was researching our unit placed several LTs on FAC3 status wht this means is they do not get to fly actual aircraft but only have to fly simulator time in order to stay current in the aircraft. The reason for this was to allow the aircraft to be used for Warrants. Thats when I realized that the whole reason for me joining the WO ranks was to fly. So the morale of this story if you want to fly go Warrant.
Okay so I lied I actually have more than 2 cents to put in.
You say Warrants will only command a detail at the most, Well I will say to you this is not true As a Waarant your job is to become as technically and tactically proficient in your job as humanly possible. One of the most respected command positions is PIC Pilot IN Command I will tell you that a PIC can and I emphasize CAN be much harder and stressful than any platoon leader/commmand slot out there.
