Re: instructors
Well we have 3 instructors in our Battalion (listed in order from most awesome, to not so awesome)
MSgt. Streck. He is the most awesome Marine ever. Lets seeeeeee, he enlisted at 17 and got into amtracks, he did 3 tours in Vietnam, and finished up his 21 years as a DI. Then he got into the whole ROTC business. Been teaching at the same school, in the same room, in the same chair for 24 years. He taught me a lot; we always talked and were very close. He was like my dad (I was around him for like 5 hours a day). He is funny (at times), very strict (likes everything done by the book, Old Corps), can get pretty angry and gives god ass chewing. Other that that he is awesome.
1stSgt. Rodriguez. Not sure about his carrer, he teaches over at the other high school. He was a DI though. A good guy, has a mean temper and you can never tell when he is really pissed off or just joking (always assume pissed off, to be safe). Once he decides he likes you, he is very funny. A great Marine.
Col. Sullivan. Not the best SMI I’ve ever seen. He took over for Col. Dietrich my sophomore year (Dietrich was the most awesome SMI ever). Sully is New Corps, and he DOES NOT mesh well with the MI’s. He likes things done HIS way. I don’t think he has made some good leadership calls. All the past officers he has “spot-promoted” because he though they had potential, dropped out with a loathing for the program, or performed a school crime which got them into serious trouble so we could leave them as officers. I would say his entire system of doing things is screwed up, and doesn’t work for ROTC.
