Re: Humpin in the Boonies
We run a very "progressive" program here. MSI's, II's and III's make up two PLTs (3 squads @ about 11 cadets each) for a company. III's run the company from SL's up. MSI's and II are usually TL's picked by III's. IV's run the BN staff and oversee all training events, with the cadre at the top correcting as necissary. MSI's and II's do all training events as MSIII's, so they actually have 3 years of experience at a fast paced level before reaching LDAC. This is our program's core competancy.
As far as FTX stories, I've done everything from taking a map and compass away from a land nav buddy my first time at night land nav because she:
1. Was in the class above me
2. Had only been in the woods at night one other time
3. Was completely freaked out, cold, had to pee every 15 min, etc etc etc
I've been OPFOR on a lane with a SAW on an intersection of a road that was at the bottom of a hill. It's amazing what you can see from a little bunker.
Man I just better stop while I'm ahead. I will say that I've flown on a helicopter at least twice a year while I've been in our program.
