I'm off to Navy Basic Training on Monday!

Just wanted to check in and let everyone that I leave for Basic Training in Great Lakes on Monday. I'm so ready its not even funny. I'm leaving as an E-3 and also as CMC (Command Master Chief) of my DEP pool which is nice. I look forward to the PT and the schooling because I know it will only make me stronger and a better person. Just wanted to let everyone know that I love the forums here and I've learned alot reading all the posts and information people give to others. Once I'm out of boot camp and settled into my A-School I'll come back on and post about my experiences for others who may be wondering what to expect. Some advice I'll give to others before they leave for bootcamp:

1. Do your PQS in your DEP book. You will be more prepared than most when you go into Basic Training if you do this. Bonus: You will leave as an E-2 while everyone else is an E-1.

2. Try and get your 4 people into the Navy. I've done this and you not only get to leave as an E-3 (more money in the bank) but you will also get a commendation put into your folder which will help you with further advancement.

3. Excercise- I'm sure pretty much everyone has heard this a million times but oh well. Run, pushups, situps. Find a friend that will excercise with you (I trained people in my DEP pool) not only will this give you motivation to show up and do your workout but it will also show you where you are compared to other people. I was worried about my shape until I started working out with other people in my DEP pool and saw what kind of shape they were in. Also it will help you feel better about yourself and about basic training, one less thing to have to worry about.

4. Go in with a positive attitude. If you go in with the attitude that the PT and schooling will only help you in the long run and that its only 6-7 weeks then that's how you will feel while you are at basic training. If you go with the attitude that its going to suck and your going to hate it, guess what? You will feel that way while your in basic training. You'd be amazed just how much your attitude goes towards how basic training goes.

I'll be checking back until Monday morning so if anyone has any advice/suggestions for me I'd love to hear them.
