Re: Troops to Equal Any

You're right. Vietnam Vets have been getting pretty screwed in terms of respect and recognition. Lately, however, with the changing times I'm beginning to see a shift in this trend. Maybe it's because the "greatest generation" is fading away, but regardless, the media is starting to showcase the Vietnam War as an important thing to be studied. The military channel doesn't show so much WWII programming as it does VN. Even video games are shifting focus to that theater. I recently read a book by David Maraniss called They Marched Into Sunlight (about 1967 in Vietnam, Madison, WI, and DC. It showed the contrast between combat, protests, and politcal decisions that all occured simultaneously. Hopefully, this trend will become more common and the younger generations will view Viet Vets with the same esteem as those of WWI and WWII. (And hopefully we'll stop forgetting Korea...)

But I assure you: "Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another."
