Pi Cooldude Re: reporting to batt

WOW!Things have sure changed. So you reported to a Ranger BATT(Im assuming you just completed RIP)And you already have orders for Ranger school?back in the day you had to be in batt at least a year,PFC or Spec 4.I think your in for a hard go of it.Cuz there is no way that you can be prepared for what lies ahead of you. There used to be some pretty tough things you had to do before even reporting. And there is no way that a newbie just reporting to batt can have the skills required. What about the basic proficient requirements. Can you call for and adust indirect fire? And your land nav skills better be good! You must be able to plan, organize, coordinate, and conduct small unit operations under some of the most difficult conditions imaginable. No sleep No food etc.My own experience was way different as far as prepreation goes.I had 6 years active duty prior to my enlistment with a guard LRS unit.In this unit we had very few slots for school. So we had a very long culling process before even being considered to go.And then we had to attend a pre ranger school that futher weeded out the quitters and wannabes. All of this and I still Recycled. But this was many years ago.Maybe things have changed and before I Stick my BS flag in the air,Maybe a Ranger that is more resently ETSed can square me away.
