Advanced Individual Training
Advanced Individual Training is usually the next stage of training for candidates who are assigned a job specialty prior to enlistment or during Basic Recruit Training. This is where they will learn the skills necessary to excel in their jobs in the Military.
In general, Advanced Individual Training is a classroom environment similar to college or junior college. In fact, the American Council on Education certifies more than 60% of advanced training courses as college credit. Advanced training schools last from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the complexity of the subject matter. Training people for over 4,100 individual specialties is a massive job, and more than 10,000 courses and 100,000 support people are involved. There are over 300 military training centers. |

Re: Advanced Individual Training
Worry about Basic and AIT - First things first. Sniper school has very limited slots, and tough requirements. You may be in the Army for awhile before you get in Sniper School, if you get there at all. Read the posts in the Sniper thread in this forum. It explains it real well.

Re: Advanced Individual Training
How long do you have to be in an infantry platoon until you can request Marine Corps Recon school? I know you have to have at least 18 months left in your enlistment after you school is done but that's about it.

Re: Advanced Individual Training
^ The name of the game is being humble and having a little respect. Someday, when you have earned a place in the armed forces, you might be able to get away with making flippant comments about who does or does not work. Until then, remember that there are people on this board who have been places and done things that you've only seen in movies and video games. It would behoove you to control the flow from your sewer spout accordingly.
