ever heard of someone going through AFROTC and not getting commissioned?
I heard from a friend about a guy who went through AFROTC got his EA before field training, and about a month before he was to be commissioned, they "force shaped" him into enlisted. Does this sort of thing happen? It doesn't make sense, but I just wanted to know if any of you have heard something. My Det captain told me that once you get your EA and are contracted, then you're guaranteed commission once finished.

Re: ever heard of someone going through AFROTC and not getting commissioned?
oooh yeah. What your "det. captain" was wrong. You can still be booted out and that actually says it in the contract (if you are to be contracted) that you owe the Air Force X amount of years but they can kick you out at anytime for any reason but there are several ways to get kicked out of the program.
The first and most importantly is getting in trouble with the law which will most likely refer you to getting kicked out and if you are forced to leave the program and you are on scholarship, you have to repay everything. The second one is if you decide to enlist instead, I believe you have to give more years but its another way to not commission. |
