Air Force Budget Request Includes Pay Raise
In the president's recently released fiscal 2008 budget Air Force leaders are asking Congress for about $110.7 billion.
The Air Force budget request includes a 3 percent pay raise for military and civilian Airmen next year. Also, basic allowance for housing would go up about 4 percent. The Air Force has also initiated a $38.9 billion dollar modernization and recapitalization budget request, which would fund the Air Force's efforts to buy new, more modern aircraft. In the FY08 budget, Air Force officials project they would spend about $20.5 billion dollars on procuring new aircraft, missiles, equipment and ammunition. Lawmakers will try to have the budget approved before October 1, 2007, the beginning of FY08. |
