Re: Roll Call.
yeah, your cut from a different cloth, you only have to get a what? 42 on your ASFAB to be a cop. There are other AFSC's were a recruit has to get an 85 or 90 to get a job. Cops do a great job, don't get me wrong. But remember why you have to take a lot of shit. You either got the job because you really wanted it or because their wasn't much else you could do. Now I know that there are other reasons and I'm not putting anyone who serves their country, in any capacity, down but you take shit for alot of reasons. One of those reasons is that other services members think that you guys aren't very smart and that you pick on other AFSC's just because you can.

Re: Roll Call.
Its ridiculous to judge an AFSC on your ASVAB score. I've known comm and med guys that are complete idiots. I've got nothing but respect for what AF cops do. They're actually quite a diverse career field and has to learn a lot! I remember my wife bring home 5(I think) THICK volumes of CDCs for her 5 level. In Medical, I only had 3.
Don't other US forces use the SFA in Lackland? Now why would they do that for a bunch on half assed "Cops" |

Re: Roll Call.
I know that there are less-than-smart people in all AFSC and even in the officer's corp. Hell, there was a guy in my shop that got a 98 on his EOC but he couldn't tie his shoes or know how to wear his uniform correctly. If you talked to this guy u would of thought that he was brain dead. I know some cops and are friends w/ some of them, my neighbor is a cop and he's a great guy. I was just giving a broad opinion based on what alot of people I know think. And its not just cops in the services, its cops on the outside too. I have family members and friends that are Sheriff deputies and police officers

Re: Roll Call.
All right, here is some crazy Security Forces shit that happened to me last night.
Me, my supervisor and two other members of my shop were out working on the flightline. A cop came up and asked us for our security badges. No problem, right? So my supervisor asks the cop if he could see his line badge and the cop went nuts. He took our security passes and our IDs wrote down our names and asked us our 1st shirts name. The cop, a SrA, beraded my supervisor, a SSgt, for being "unprofessional". My supervisor only asked if he could see the cops line badge because they normally have them attached to their vests when they come out to the line. Now I know that we all the responsibility of Force Protection and we all have the right to approach any one coming into a restricted area and ask them for the Security pass. So how come this cop reacted so harshly and didn't even have his showing in the first place? This is why alot of us have a hard time relating to the cops. This guy could have just shown his badge as well easy as that. Its a AF members responsibilty for force protection. I think that this particular cop just forgot his line badge last night. |

TO- 4fox4life
I think the problem is that when one starts naming different afscs one starts pissing people off. FOR INSTANCE-stating u know some med guys that are "complete idiots". I am a "med guy" (flight medic; usafr) and a civilian police officer. I am neither an asshole (most of the time), an idiot (shield man on our response team, former narc det, top academic from my academy), or think I am better then ANYONE. You see, I know that I am one bad call away from being an ex-cop with a bunch of certs that do me no good. ALSO-Military law enforcement is VERY different from civilian law enforcement (I won't bore anyone with the details, although if anyone asked....), I don't take offense or even care if they are called cops. I'm sure they are called many of the same things I have been called when I worked the road. The biggest problem I see with young cops, whether mil or civ, are a general lack of PEOPLE SKILLS. It takes a few years to learn such things. Most do thogh. Like someone stated in an earlier post, every afsc plays an important role in completing THE MISSION and after all that's what we are here for. ps dinstaar is an asshole. Kel |

Re: Roll Call.
I'm a little pissed about the comment about a cop being some kind of a dummy. Just because a minimum score of 42 is required doesn't mean all cops are dummies. I worked with many who had IQs above 120. One of my classmates at OTS was an ex-enlisted cop in the AF and the Army, and he would have graduated second in the class if he hadn't broken his leg (couldn't run a mile and a half, after healing he blew the run chack away, and got his commission). The important thing is that the many cops in the AF want to be cops, so they are.
So you know where I'm coming from, my signature block on the previous incarnation of this forum used to be "the Computer Cop". -Old Don |

Re: Roll Call.
Wow this post got blown out of control!
Yes there are allot of Idiots in the SF career because yes they do just put people who come in Open Gen to SF or Services but still we are held to a higher standard I have never gotten a 2 hour lunch to go eat and go to the gym I don’t call my flight chief by his first name and I have never seen anyone else have to guard a nukes pl1 resources or deal with most of the daily crap we do or give a post brief or have open ranks or have to QC for your duties every year. So next time you think being a "Cop" SF, SP or whatever you want to call us think a little harder and understand people in SF have it a little harder then most the Air Force also known as Chair Force hahah little funny in there :-) Happy Holidays |

Re: Roll Call.
I didn't thing it would be long until some young, firepisser would show up and put his two cents in.
A fine example of the discussion regarding PEOPLE SKILLS if I ever saw one. Kel |

Re: Roll Call.
I am civilian cop and a medic in the reserves. What is combat arms? Is that teaching airman to qualify with the m16? Do you teach the other weapons to security police also?
