Okay... What exactly are Security Forces?
Are Security Forces "infantry" or are they MPs, or both? I've also read articles about them on training exercises with Marines. So...

Re: Okay... What exactly are Security Forces?
They are just that SECURITY. In other words, if you have the balls to come to the gate (which is being secured/manned) by the Security Forces, and think you can get through ..... well just make sure you video tape it. I want to win 10k with Americas Funniest Home Videos. And to win 100k, try crossing the "Red Line". This is a line that completely runs around the whole airfield and is the buffer between the aircraft and "The Outside"
They also patrol the permiter of the base to make sure knucleheads do not get in as well. There are a few in the forum Brazen, HIJ 66, but what ever you do stay away from DINSTARR. He is recruting for the Spec Ops AGE troops. Speaking of Spec Ops stay away from the Security Forces with the Dark Blue Berets, those are the badasses of the career field. You can yahoo search or google search (Security Forces) and get some info as well, but, being the nice guy with a wealth of information on breast studies, I copied some links for ya' http://afsf.lackland.af.mil/ http://www.afrotc.com/careers/jobsea...orces/31PX.htm http://www.airforcesecuritypolice.com/ |

Re: Okay... What exactly are Security Forces?
Special Operations a.k.a Spec Ops.
They guard the base, guard aircraft, help in the escort of dignataries, enforce traffic laws, patrol (vehicle) the base, rescue kittens stuck in trees, help the stupid people that can not shoot a freakin M-4 or M-16 hit the broad side of a barn, work 12 hour shifts (until contract workers come online).... ya know cool stuff. They have also been known to help the Combat Transportation (LRS) Convoys in Iraq, do some patrols with the Army (Iraq), prisoner movement of the Taliban from Afghanistan to Camp X-Ray ..... blah, blah, blah. |

Seriously...wtf, security forces..."SF" as they call themselves make lots of coffee, guard the gates in 100+ degree weather and drive around base in their nifty little cars and write parking tickets and citations...received one myself not too long ago...hmmm...only thing about the "SF" that might be cool are the raven's...but i know a few guys in the 173rd who hate the bastards b/c they weren't even needed to secure the airfield...the airfield had already been secured by other means...high speed means...don't go "SF" if that's what you're thinking...PJ, CCT or TACP, only way to go...AIRBORNE!

AWESOME I have been waiting for some dumb fuck peckerhead to open their mouths.
18 year olds with a gun and a badge, pretty much sums it up. submitted by superman462003. Hmmm....that a really good answer toa the orignal question. You failed to really give an intelligent answer thus making you look silly. Seriously...wtf, security forces..."SF" as they call themselves make lots of coffee, guard the gates in 100+ degree weather and drive around base in their nifty little cars and write parking tickets and citations...received one myself not too long ago...hmmm...only thing about the "SF" that might be cool are the raven's...but i know a few guys in the 173rd who hate the bastards b/c they weren't even needed to secure the airfield... submitted by Poonter. Wow two for one. What did you two like asexually reproduce? Security Forces members perform a vast array of duties. Some are actually attached to Army and Marine units as well. Air base defense, convoys, nuclear weapons security, and law enforcement to name a few. USAF Security Forces units have NEVER lost an airbase. But we are also quite effecient at making our own coffee too. |

Re: Okay... What exactly are Security Forces?
Not sure what your deal is, Poonter. Made a crack at SF (Its called an acronym, fuck. We're not calling ourselves Special Forces, so you don't have to quote it.) on the Spec Op forums and then come here to try to piss on your fellow Airmen again. You have some insecurity issues or something? You don't like it that your career field (if you are actually TACP) is considered one of the elites, yet any Airman Basic can come snatch up your ID card jsut because he feels like it or can give you a lawful order to go to your First Sergeant because you were speeding. It upsets you us so-called rent-a-cops have this authority over you?
Take your personal issues elsewhere, Poon. There may be alot of boards where your kind of attitude is accepted, but here we're adults and here we realize the importance of EVERY AFSC/MOS/Rate and EVERY service. You only show how childish and completely unprofessional you are when you give some shit answer like that to a person who is asking a sincere question about an AFSC. Its good that there are guys like Rusty about, because you are just a shitstain on TACPs around here. -Jorge |

Re: Okay... What exactly are Security Forces?
To give my two cents on the original question, Security Forces isn't any one thing. Law Enforcement, Installation Defense, and (dare I say it?) even some aspects of infantry..some. Check out this site to see what some SF guys are doing down range:
http://www.afnews.af.mil/iraq/balad/...1041-balad.htm Then there's always my other responses: http://www.goinfantry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2000 You can use the search or just scan through the past threads, this is a pretty common question. -Jorge |

Re: Okay... What exactly are Security Forces?
There are the Marine Corps Security Guard Battalion. they guard embassies, consulates, nuclear sites, bases ect. i was about to go into the security but decided i wanted to be infantry instead. MC security guards go through alot of training. they have to go to SOI and the security force training, they learn stuff like interior/exterior guard, CQB ect. sometimes theyre even on naval ships or "on-call" on bases. sometimes they're assigned as body guards to high ranking officers and civilian officials and sometimes even go in civilian clothes with concealed weapons. they have some diplomatic immunities. They've done things like convoy escorts in urban areas and destroying classified documents. These guys arent the stereotypical security guards u think of when u hear the word security guard. they're well trained and ofcourse, they're Marines.
