Re: air wing

Air Wing isnt a "job" it is a part of the USMC organization.

The USMC has 3 each of active duty Division, Field Service Support Group and Air Wing.
This forms three "tripods" 1 each Division, FSSG and Wing. These organizations work to support each other. Division does the ground fighting, FSSG does the logistics and repair, Wing does the CAP and Airsupport as well as long range logistics and transport.

As a "wingy" you will be in one of the MOS that support and provide for the USMC air arm.
Those include such things as Fireman, Avionics, Airframe maintenance and repair, refeuling, liquid oxygen production and storage etc etc. The Wing also has armorers, administration, payroll/disbursing, intel, operations, communications and all the other basic must haves for day to day business.

What is the MOS number you signed up for? Could it be something to do with aircraft wings? like in repair, maintenance and such for airframes?

Re: air wing

I'm in the Air Wing, I'm a 5962 and I'm basically a system administrator. I choose it because it's good for jobs when I get out of the Marines.

Re: air wing

good thinkin blkwdw. To serve your country in the Armed Forces is a good and worthy thing, to do so AND pick up skills viable for your future employment is a smart thing

Most A/C Maintenance MOSs start with 6 (60xx is airframes, 63xx is Avionics Etc.) If you are going to be a mech your MOS will start with 60xx)

Re: air wing

I'm a 6046 aka maint admin and I kinda got put into this MOS. I had wanted something else, but now i'm glad i am here. I also heard that this job is pretty good in the civilian life. But i like the Corps so much that I think I might be a lifer.

Re: air wing

I'm a 5939, Communications tech. Not the MOS I was planning for, but I figured it would be better in the long run. Hell, I wanted to be infantry, and I still do...
