Re: Airborne School
About 3 weeks or 14 days.
First week is Ground Week 5 days. Second Week is Tower Week (thats where the sissy's usually chicken out), 5 days as well, and then Jump Week. You jump on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, with Thursday as a rain day. Do it you'll love it ...... and this is coming from an Air Force guy! http://www.benning.army.mil/airborne/airborne/ |

Re: Airborne School
Airborne school is a qualification. To become a 13 letter tab wearer is a totally different route, but Aairborne is required for SF. From what I have heard it is not required for RANGER anymore .... Covert would be the best to answer that part.

Re: Airborne School
To serve in a Ranger Bat you gotta make it through Jump School. You do not have to be Airborne qualified to attend Ranger School.

Re: Airborne School
Airborne Armor left the 82nd in 96/97. Man there is nothing like the sound Sherridan frapping in on Sicily DZ.
Chances of going to Airborne School out of an Armor unit ...... definately not as good if you were Infantry. Not saying it can't be done, but there is no need for Airborne in the Armor community |

Re: Airborne School
just out of curiosity, and if this has already been asked tell me to shut up: I was trying to get a slot for jump school this summer, but my CPT basically told me my run time wasn't high enough, but it's between the times listed on the Benning web page. How much of an issue do you think it'll really be if I finally get there (as long as I'm in shape and passing my PT test)?

Re: Airborne School
Before you even try, make sure you can do this: Push-up 79
Sit- ups 79 Pull-ups 11 (dead hang) 1.5 miles 10:20 Now, those are competitive scores. But if you cant do that and then go march 8-15 miles with 65-75 lbs in your ruck, dont even think about an Option 40. The odds of making it would be way against you. |
