Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Hey Cav Scouts,
Our son is coming home on leave after graduating Cav Scout AIT and I wanted to order a Welcome Home banner. I'd like to put 'Scouts Out' under his name. Is that appropriate? Will anyone be offended? Is that only sacred to use between Scouts? I'm having it professionally printed by www.partybanners.com in case any of you are interested. They have cool Army banners with the Crossed Sabers, Tanks, Armor, etc. Or should I stick with 'We love our Cavalry Scout'? Please respond quickly as I'm under a deadline. ![]() |

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Personally I do not see why anyone would have an issue with this. I like the fact that you are showing such intrest and support for your son. And frankly if anyone did say anything about your welcome home banner and it was me I would punch them but thats just me. Someone else might have a little more input for on this but once again thats my 2 cents for what ever its worth.

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Thank you so much. I went ahead and ordered it. Its going to look really neat with the crossed sabers. I didn't put his rank though, because we don't know if he will be promoted right after AIT and as well, want to use this again no matter what rank he is.
I can't wait to get it!! I've seen these banners at other homecomings and they are pretty sharp looking. |

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Thanks Gentlemen
![]() We just got word last night (he called) that he and his platoon completed their last test, the 20 klick march and the PT test. He did well. They are now officially Cav Scouts. He said they are very tired, sore and nursing some battle wounds LOL He said he just wants a hot meal and a nice warm bed with no alarm clock ROFL |

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
:proud-ame Congrats Ma'am to your son. That is great news. When I was at Fort Knox we (Tankers 19 Kilo), saw scouts (19 Delta) running and hiking all over the place. Our Night infiltration out in the boonies at 0030 and here we see glow stick armed scouts running by. It was humorous at the time but I am familiar with his feelings of relief. That is a great feeling to be done, congrats.

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Tell him congradulations and welcome to the CAV. I hope I have been able to help you with your questions as he went through his basic and AIT. I only wish my parents were as supportive and excited about my choice of career as you are of your sons. He should be very proud to have you as a mom. I would be. As for the banner, you noticed noone has any objections. I like the idea you had. You can save that for later and use it again if it is one of the ones I am thinking it is. Thank you for supporting your son as much as you do, by doing that you support the rest of us in uniform as well. Scouts Out!

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Thanks for all the Congrats, Guys, I will surely pass the word to him. He called today to wish me a Happy Mothers Day; it was so good to hear his voice. He does have on dilemma that has him INCREDIBLY worried and upset. They lost his 'personal bag' that had his clothes that he travelled in but most importantly, the ziploc bag that had his ORIGINAL birth certificate, shot record and Social Security Card. When they handed out the bags, his was not there. We're so worried about this identity theft, not to mention how hard it is to get those documents reissued. Any suggestions would be quite helpful.
Turtle, you have been an incredible help; in fact I would send him what you would pm me for insight. Thank you again. ![]() I look at it like this guys, YOU are ALL MY SONS and if you're lucky to be stationed with our young man in Korea, you will hear from me in the form of homemade cookies, snacks, letters, cards, paperback books, movies, etc. I've already committed to being one of the Platoon Mom's for our son's Cav unit in Korea. ![]() See, I was a single young lady back in my day in the USCG (Ok, it wasn't THAT long ago ROFL). No one was there to greet me on the pier after a lengthy patrol, no mail came to my bunk, I was one of those 'forgotton singles'. If I can help it, I don't want to see that happen to our son or anyone else in his unit. I wish I could adopt you all but well....know that you all are in our hearts and thoughts each day; even before our son enlisted. It breaks my heart to watch and listen to 'Fallen Heroes' on the news each night or to hear another soldier will not be making it home for another holiday. So many are so young; even younger than our boy. I always manage, no matter how hard I try not to, shed a tear for the fallen and their families. Please, I don't want to ever read about any of you. |

Re: Kinda Weird Cav Scout Question
Cavalry is the correct spelling. Calvery is the church spelling ie: Calvery Baptist Church. Just remember it is cav not calv.
