Cavalry AIT
I got a call from the recruiter tthe other day and he told me i was all set for the cav scount position and told me that its 8 weeks of infantry training and 2 weeks of scout training
now Ive been reading up on Cav scout prior to his call and i found that cav scout is about 16 weeks of cav training and i didnt read anything about infantry training. I found my info on About.com and a few others im not saying that the recruiter lied or anything but if he did would that be a big surprise lol, i may have mis understood him. but if anyone could tell me the real deal on cav scout training i would appreciate it |

Re: Cavalry AIT
this is from goarmy.com:
Job training for Cavalry Scout requires Basic Training, where you learn basic Soldiering skills, and Advanced Individual Training, and 16 weeks of One Station Unit Training (OSUT). The training will take place primarily in the field with some classroom training. Cavalry Scout training never really stops. Whether it's taking part in squad maneuvers, target practice or war games, Cavalry Scouts are constantly working to keep their skills sharp and are in a constant state of readiness. |

Re: Cavalry AIT
Sorry Brian. I just got back on and have time to answer your PM to me. I will send that now. Yes scouts do infantry training. They have to know the tacktics because often times we are performing them. Scouts are in front of the infantry in the ideal battle field environment. They along with the FO's are sending intelligence to the headquarters so the commanders know where to shift forces for enemy contact.
