Pi Question Mark Cavalry Scout

Can someone tell me what exactly a someone would do as a Cavalry Scout. What kind of training they go through. What they do from day to day.

If someone (preferably someone who is or was a Cavalry Scout) could tell me I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Again

Re: Cavalry Scout

I was a CAV scout for 10 years. We are the eyes and ears of the army. We are in front of the infantry adn armor trying to find the enemy adn evaluate them. Depending on the mission if we had to use our wepons systoms we did our job wrong. In other missions like the Divisional Cav in the 3rd ID the CAV leads the charge. We do things like evaluating routes to see if that route will accomidate the vehicles that will be coming behind us. We would classify bridges for structural integrity to support the weight of the vehicles and find alternate routes is if will not. Just a jack of all trades and a master of none we always said. Hope this gives you a short understanding of what a scout does. Basicly the same as frontier days, we look for the enemy and determine how to get the fighting force to them or around them.
