Military Careers for Women
Hey, I asked this question to my OSO recently, and all he said is that I can't do anything related to artillery.
That didn't help a whole lot. My question is WHAT fields ARE OPEN for Women OFFICERS? Is there a website that lists all the opportunities, skills and fields opened for Women? I am mostly interested in Marine Corps opportunities, but if Navy offers more to my liking, I am willing at this point. I am trying to be open to most chances I have, but I was born and raised Marine Corps (My Dad, my hero...20 year Active Marine). Thanks a lot for the replies, if any:-) |

well, correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought all combat branches were closed to women(except aviation, and combat deployed ships). so if its a non-combat field, you should be ok. i think all combat support roles are open....again someone correct me, if i'm wrong.

Yeah- I think all combat MOS's are closed to women. Which really sucks. Cause I thought it would be cool to do. But I can try to help you out there. Cause I just joined the National Guard and I'm tryin to figure out my MOS too. My dad's the recruiter- so he probably has a list or website with all the women jobs- in all branches k. I'll PM it to you.

Cooks .... women can be cooks in the military. Secretaries ... they can do that as well. Ummm .... si there a laundry and dusting career field???
Actually mac hit it on the head. If its a combat MOS then you are probably not going to get it. Now some of the hard core women that want some good action, will opt for MP's in the Army. The convoy stuff is another option. I don't know if they are open in the Corps as well, but its a shot. |

AntiArmorGrunt hit it on the head. If you want to join the Marines, I'd PM Hoss6 though. She's active duty Marines currently and would probably be able to help you best. She might also know of some sites to look at.
