Navy Boot.. M16?

I recently read on some website that the M16 is no longer shot while in Navy boot camp. Is this correct?

No longer shot? When they start shooting them? We shot M14 and M16 simulators.

Are the simulators still being shot? I wish I remembered the URL, but I've been to so many sites recently. I believe it was referring to the simulator.

YEs the sim is a M-16 (6 years ago when I joined). I remember thinking it's stupid because ship's use M14's and very few Navy commands ahve 16's. Plus, with the kick from a 14, it's a big difference.
