Re: physical and dental
I also have a dental question, im 24 and i think ive been to the denstist like twice in my life time. all my teeth are intact but im pretty sure ill have ton of cavities and god knows what else. ive taken pretty good care of myself but with no pro dental work.
I've read that when you get to reception that you have a dental visit and im curious if you stay in reception till they fix everything with your teeth or do they work on you during and/or after bootcamp |

Re: physical and dental
They will repair all of your dental problems while you are in Boot Camp. I dont kow about the Army, but if you are going into Marine Boot Camp with your Wisdom Teeth, you wont have them when you leave.

The Army will aslo do any and all dental work for you at reception and during Basic. Dental is a big thing in the military (at least the Army) Believe it or not having what they call CLass 4 dental will make you undeployable so they like to keep your smile bright and shiny!!!!

When a tooth breaks from the jawbone it hurts, until the dentists jacks your jaw open and rams a needle in there with "SLEEPY MEDICINE". Two hours later I woke up and was all good. GET THEM DONE IN BC. |

Re: physical and dental
No real pain after words ... for me. Just alot of liquids for a few days. Have them use the cat gut stitches. They dissolve rather than get them pulled out. I will say this. Pope AFB has a civilian dentist (Dr Bailey) and he is the shit when it comes to "circumventing pain" if at all possible. Some are good, some are bad, and some need to go back to school.

Re: physical and dental
I got two of my wisdom teeth taken out when I was about 6 months prego. Since I couldn't get knocked out and I wouldn't let them do an X-ray (could be bad for the baby) they had to do it when I was fully awake with nothing more than some of that numbing stuff (which didn't fully work). Oddly enough, it felt GOOD when they took them out, the pressure relived the pain I was in. A few hours later, though, is when the pain set in and my whole jaw was throbbing.
Anyway - I'm really excited about boot and the dentist visit bit - I have a few cavaties that need working out. Since I'm "lower-middle class" (which is a crock because I am POOR) I can't get any of the state funded insurances and I'm way too broke to pay the $275 a month my company charges for a family plan. So, I NEVER go to the doctor and everytime my daugther had to get shots it sets me back a gizillion bucks. So, YAY! I get to go to the doctor!!! Woo-hoo!!! LOL |
