Just Boot Camp
Can anyone help me out and tell me how I can voluntarily join a boot camp for between 2 weeks to 3 months. I am doing it simply for the discipline it will give me; I don't want to join the military. I just want to go for a few weeks to a boot camp to get more discipline. Also, is it best to join an army, navy, air force, etc. boot camp, or are there other ones that are better? Thanks,
Raman |

Re: Just Boot Camp
You can't just go to bootcamp without serving.
It costs quite a bit of money to train recruits, and the military expects something back in return for that investment. This isn't a free gym program for everyone who thinks they want to loose a few pounds, learn how to shoot, or get some discipline. This is training given to those who have made a commitment to serve the country. If you really want a bootcamp type experience, there are plenty of civilian programs started up by ex military (or just plain old scam artists) who claim to offer a authentic bootcamp experience. They are typically pretty expensive. |

Re: Just Boot Camp
Talk to a Marine recruiter, sign some papers, raise your right hand, stand on some yellow footprints, and from that point everything will be taken care of.
The Marines would be your first choice as they operate a French beach resort down in South Carolina with good food and you get paid for the experience, about $4 grand. |

Re: Just Boot Camp
Alternatively there is the possibility of asking the French Foreign Legion.
They do select people after a basic training where they wring the soul out of you. It lasts something like 16 week and the dropout rate is over 50% before it finishes. This means also people who come from other military realities. Just go to the nearest French consulate. |
