Asvab
Hey I haven't taken the ASVAB at a recruiters yet, but I was wondering, can you use a calculator on it? Or is that not allowed?

Re: Asvab
Ok, I just finished a practice 200 question ASVAB. I'm not gonna say my overall score because it was horrible. I did good in the Math sections and the reading ones but mechanical and electrical sucked total ass. Overall my percentage was low so I don't think I passed.
I wanted to know, what score must you have, bare minimum to pass the ASVAB and then, what score must you have to be qualified for Infantry? Thanks! -Jugganaut Joe |

Re: Asvab
on Asvab you only get a blank sheet of paper (or 2) & a pencil.. After the test you put your sheet of paper in a bin. Don't stress, the asvab is never as bad as you think it will be. It's long & boring. I've had to take it twice in the last couple of months (once b/c my old one expired & the most recent b/c of a paperwork error & easier to retake than to wait for a waiver).
For bonuses you wanna aim, i believe, over a 50 on your AFQT. |

Re: Asvab
Oh, over 50? I made a 57 on my practice 200 Q test, I guess that's good?
I want to be in 0311 or 0351 so I need an 80 in the GT Line, I only got a 74 on this practice one, so I'm gonna have to bring it up a little then I'll be fine. But I don't take my real ASVAB for a little while so I think I'll be ok. -Jugganaut Joe |

Re: Asvab
i dont know if this will help....on the practice one, that i bought at a bookstore,i got like an 80...when i took it at the OPM, i got a 93 the 1st time & a 97 2 years later, then another 93, 2 months after that.
From my experience you should do better on the actual test. |

Re: Asvab
You can get in with a 30. One thing you need to do is ask you service recruitor what test areas that service looks at primarily. The army uses the GT score, to get good jobs adn nice bonuses you need a 110 or higher. This score is completely different than the AFQT. Find oout what score they use and study up hard on those test areas.

Re: Asvab
My husband had to take the asvab for the AF and he got a 112 on it! Woo Hoo! I think he is going to learn to speak either arabic or farsie (spelling?) But yeah, the bonuses are sweet, especially the sign on bonus after your enlistment is up.

Re: Asvab
the test overall is pretty easy, i got like a 60 or 70 something without studying or even knowing what to expect on the test as a high school junior. hope i'll do better next time around.

Re: Asvab
whe i took the asvab and right before the test was going to start, the recruiter walked over to me and said i only need a 32 to pass, and not to worry that sometimes they let you slide with a 15 if circumstances come up, he was probably blowing smoke up my ass about the 15% average. maybe trying to make me a little less nervous
i felt that the majority of the test was easier than the 20 minute practice test the recruiter gave me, the hardest part was trying to keep focused for 3 hours while my ass is getting numb sitting there |
