Embassy Work w/ Military
Hi, I'd love to work at an embassy (US, of course!) and was wondering if there were any positions for a soldier at an embassy and what position would I try for...Thanks a lot. Hopefully that makes sense...

Re: Embassy Work w/ Military
Friends of mine who have served in Geneva for various occasions under the Embassy protection programme have come back to me with stories of many Marines serving as Embassy guards.
I also have had to do with them at shooting events here in Switzerland. That's my small contribution Taraa |

Re: Embassy Work w/ Military
There are members of this forum that were embassy security Marines. I also believe there is one or two that were senior SNCO and or det commander of embassy Marines.
Marines guard all our embassy's. There is a B billet MOS within the USMC for that duty. That's as much as I know. I'll shush now and let someone with the straight poop either correct what I said or add more detail. -Mac |

Must say something about the Embassy Marines I met, not all of them seemed Lean and Mean except for a lady officer who did look the part.
Actually many of them looked like bodybuilding jim maniacs slightly overweight. |

I served as the Det Cmdr at the Embassies in Cairo and Rome. There are several threads in the forum concerning the Duty, do a search and see what you find. Rather than rehash it all here, if you have any specific questions send me a PM.

Could be that fat is overkill, maybe well fed or well covered could be more indicative.
Must say they did cut a disciplined image. Cheers |

Re: Embassy Work w/ Military
All U.S. Embassies are guarded by U.S. Marines. That is the mission of the Marine Security Guard Battalion. To learn more about the MSG mission, and how to become an MSG, cruise around their website: MSG BATTALION, 4th MEB (AT) (Don't sweat the pop-up about needing a security certificate)
Once you kick around on this site, then feel free to come back and ask questions - might be better handled on the Marine section of this forum, though. |
