Re: Question bout graduation
Are you sure those are both from Bootcamp graduation?
It's been over 20 years since I've been through that but our Graduation Cerimony was in full Dress Green Alpha. That's the Dress Greens with blouse (dress coat) and ...I cant remember if it was the piss cutter or the dress cover on our lids. The Platoon Honor Man (#1 best man in the platoon) recieved Dress Blues as an award and I believe he wore those to Grad..but my mems are real fuzzy. -Mac |

Re: Question bout graduation
oh, publicity shots.
Those dont often relate much to reality lol. There are many schools a Marine can graduate from after Boot Camp. Some, such as those related to Marine Security Guard school might be in Dress Blues. I'm not sure tho, USMCRET and others have been through that and other schools. They'd be better able to comment than myself. -Mac |

Re: Question bout graduation
The graduation uniform is determined by the time of year, what's being routinely issued by the Corps at a given time, and the whim of the command. In the winter, the service alpha (full green) uniform is standard. In warmer months, the service charlie (green trous/khaki shirt) is it. For a time, warm weather graduations were conducted in the dress blue delta (blue trous/khaki shirt), but I believe they've gotten away from it. The honorman is almost always issued full dress blues, and graduates in them.
When I graduated in October of '93, the Marine Corps had been issuing full dress blue uniforms to recruits. My entire company, and a number of companies in the months before me, graduated in full blues. They did away with that practice because of the cost. |
