Service Project For All Who Serve
I've really been wanting to some sort of service project for all the men and women serving in all branches of our military! Whether they are home or across seas...
Then when my teacher gave us an assignment to do a service project I thought it would be a perfect time to really start looking. I was just curious if any of you who are serving (or not) know of anything I can do to help any of you out... I know they do care packages and things to those serving across seas, and that is a wonderful idea, but I would like to something different that could mean just as much to those who are living on bases at home... they should be recognized as well.. Any ideas would be great! Thanks! |

You can get with a Deployed person, and start a Humanitarean* Mission. A lot of people will help in the field, for all different reasons.
I did several for my own reasons and motivations, but you'll get interest. -Rich |

Re: Service Project For All Who Serve
There are literally hundreds of support groups out there that do different things... Some support our wounded troops, some support veterans, some support deployed troops, some make items like cool ties and hand warmers, some support familes of deployed troops, some raise money and build homes for wounded troops... I could point you in the right direction if I knew exactly what you are looking for.

Depends on how far you want to go or what level of involvement you want to commit to.
I know, for example, Valor IT needs funds. They provide voice activated tech support to troops who've lost hands/arms or suffered severe injury to their hands and/or arms. Maybe you could contact them or another organization and get the info and coordination FAQs for kicking off an awareness/fundraising drive where you're at. -Mac |

Regardless of where you are, one thing to consider is locating your local VA Hospital. There are many volunteer activities there that will be greatly appreciated by the residents.

Re: Service Project For All Who Serve
I think we've decided to personally write a bunch of letters telling everyone individually how much we appreciate all that they do for our country and attaching the poem that I posted awhile back that I wrote. We have some wounded soldiers coming home to Camp Williams this week and we are going to go deliver it to them on base. We are excited and hope that it makes a difference. Even if just a little one. We still want to do something more though. We've tried looking into groups and things but nothing looks good... we sorta want to do our own thing but need a few ideas thrown at us. Anything to show our utmost respect and dedication to them and to show them that no matter what we stand behind them!
