Asvab
Hey, I got my ASVAB scores back, I took it a few months ago at school. I'm not sure how to "interpret" it all, and I've went to various sites and I think I know how it works....not sure though..
Here's what I got.... AFQT= 79 Verbal-62 Math-56 Science and Technical Skills-47 General Science-47 Arithmetic Reasoning-60 Work Knowedge-57 Paragraph Comprehension-66 Mathematics Knowledge-52 Elextronics Information-44 Auto Shop and Information-51 Mechanical Comprehension-50 For Infantry for the Marines, I need a GT score of 80. GT is Paragraph Comprehension + Arthmetic Reasoning. For Combat Engineer I need a MM score of 95. MM scores is General Science + Auto and Shop Information + Mathematics Knowedge + Mechanical Comprehension. How do I find out these scores? Do I simply just add Paragraph Comprehension and Arthmetic Reasoning for my GT score? And the same for MM score? Obviously, I'm not too hot in auto, shop, and electronics..something I know and want to improve in. Thanks for any and all help. Lamm |

Re: Asvab
I am not sure exactly what fields the Marines use, but with an AFQT of 79 I don't think you need to worry about very much. That is a pretty good score. I know that to be a catagory 4 in the army you will have to be under 30. 79 will give you pretty good line scores all around. Good job.

Re: Asvab
Lamm from what i remember when i went through all that (took the ASVAB twice for the hell of it) that the scores you get on that sheet aren't really that translatable into what you're looking for. I thought the same, but I asked the recruiter after doing a little more digging to find out my "line scores." They will have a list with different acronyms to include GT and other catagories. Maybe they've changed it, but if you REALLY want to know what is up then ask the recruiter for those scores and an interpretation of them.
