Getting ready for basic questions

I am having a ingrown toenail fixed this month and im not sure if to just have it fixed or have the nail removed for good? Will having no bigtoenail stop me from entering the army?

I am about 6ft tall maybe 6ft 1in and about 215lbs with a large build. I am on a diet and working out and im joining a gym tomorrow on my day off from work. What do I need to get down to join the army and how much should I beable to do to make basic as easy as it can.

There are others here that'll are more able to give you good advice but...heck, I'm gonna give ya some anyway

For the toenail...I dont see any reason why missing a toe nail would disqual you for enlistment. I would ask the recruiter to make sure but...I cant see how that'd matter.

For the workout, if you can move your body weight, you're good to go on bulk strenght. If you can do 10 or so pull ups, a few sets of 20 reps on good strict pushups and hammer out 50 or 60 situps, you should be ok.

for the "get ready for basic" workout I would focus more on endurance. Do more running, some wind sprints and distance running. work on flexibility and general overall endurance.

I guess I'll put my 2 cents worth in. As far as the ingrown toenail, just have it taken cae of don't remove it. As far as your weight, when I was in the max weight a male 6' was 189lbs. So, your gonna either need to drop a few pounds or start bulking up, because if your over your max weight then they do a pinch test. The pinch test is to check your body fat percentage. There is a max on that too, I don't remember what it was though. Check the Army website...don't have the URL off hand..and see if it has the weight standards on it. I know it has the PT standards but I'm not sure about the weight stndards. Other than that, once you get to basic it's ALOT of head games so be prepared.

Actually they will measure you if you are over wieght. I have never heard of a pinch test. They will measure your stomache neck and wrist, and get your body mass index from that. I have never met the Army wieght standard, but I do pass BMI. As for the toe nail. Why are they removing the whole thing? My fience had an ingrown toe nail last year, and they removed the ingrown part and put a chemicle on the part that was continuing to grow, to kill that part of the toenail so it wouldn't grow anymore. You may want to check into this. Although I would follow the advice of the Grimmy and ask your recruiter, he will know better than any of us.

A friend of my sons' is wanting to join, and he is overweight. Has lost weight, but for some reason, his neck size is still too big (??) and doesn't know how to get it smaller. Any ideas?? He is a big guy anyway, but has been trying to get in since my son joined.
