almost hapf way there

almost half way through this boring kosovo deployment, almost unbearable at times, wishing there was a way to change missions in the middle of one, but sometimes things happen that keep you on your toes for a week

try not to forget us Soldiers deployed in other combat zones

well me and a couple of guys through a montage together from training and here in country

Re: almost hapf way there

Good to hear from you again.

The Kosovo stint will end and there'll be other places to go. One advantage of getting sent to a "back water" area is field seasoning time. That's something that is a pita and a bore but can come in real handy later.

Best wishes and stay motivated.

Never Brian! Please be assured that the patriots never forget the War on Terror is global and that we've got fellow countrymen in every corner of the globe serving our nation's interests.

Even boredom can be useful...it teaches us patience.

Thanks to you and the others for being there.
The video looks great.

Re: almost hapf way there

I figure you're probably hearing this most every day, but just in case...

Dont get slack. The enemy is always looking to open up new fronts and lord knows there's some enemy friendly type folk in your AO that might welcome such a thing.

Also, if there's any russian troopage around, watch them close. The russians are well on the way to getting all stupid again.

Re: almost hapf way there

yeah i see the russians from time to time, not on Bondsteel but around the near cities. they seem like idiots but dont worry i stare them down as much as i can haha

the best part about being on a NATO mission is all the different countries all in one place, i actaully have a new respect for the French. they are pretty cool guys.

the best part so far is my squad had the first successful American VCP in years. Makes this mission worth it so far. also my contract runs out in 2008 (love my 3 yr contract) but im still debating on whether or not to re-enlist here, they keep throwing that big tax free bonus in my face but its not about the money. my son comes first.

anyway im glad to hear from you guys and gals, and glad to see that the site is still up and running

PS
i cant believe that i spelt HALF wrong

That's rediculous and sad. Not on your part. More I think on the NG if that is fact. I could set up a VCP blindfolded and even pull it off with a single fireteam if it was an emergency. Not SOP but it would get done.

Re: almost hapf way there

a VCP is a vehicle check point

we are Cav now, 90 percent of us are still infantry includeing myself, we do VCP's with squad elements that contain no more than 7 guys, that night we only had 5. anyway we are the first to find anything in along time. it may have to do with our AO because to be honest i never thought anything was going on out there and i dont think there are enough of them, eveyone knows that its shit luck finding something on a random VCP
alot of my platoon contains former active duty soldiers and you cant throw a rock without hitting a former Marine, they might not agree with how things are run here but its great because they really know how to make things work

Re: almost hapf way there

Very cool BrianP.

Btw, that stuff I said about the russians... Their masters have walked right up to the line of openly declaring themselves as hostile to the US again and aren't even pretending to not support and supply our enemy anymore.

Be careful.

Also, as things get too hot for the AQ in Iraq, they'll be looking to redeploy to what they believe are "softer" areas. I'd bet that your general AO is on the short list.

Keep your head on a swivel and eyes out. It's good to hear y'all are doing well and taking care of business.
