Good advice. This will be my one and only post on the matter.

Get in shape before basic, you'll thank yourself later when you do get to the line, especially if you're gonna be a grunt. If you're a disgusting fatbody, chances are you'll still make it. However you you choose the latter you will regret it more than words can describe you get to the line. Your fate is in your hands.
