Cav / Infantryman / MLRS

Hello,

I am a 23 year old college student who is working on his assiciates degree at the local CC. I have taken my ASVAB and scored in the 91st percentile. I am looking to enlist active duty and would like to contiue my education. The Jobs i have the most intrest in are the 35m Human Intel Col. the 13m MLRS/HIMARS the 19d Cav Scout and 11b Infantry. The cav scout seems most appealing to me. But i noticed someone posted that they have a death ratio of about 60%. Is this true? Its not that i have a fear of dieing, i have faith we all have our time. Living through an IED attack and being mamed for life is my only fear. The Cavalry Scouts seem to be a group capable of saving many soliders lives with advanced information and making sure that whatever fight out boys get into isnt a fair one for the enemy. Anyone with experience in any of these fields would be welcome to dispense of any advice. I have already talked to a recruiter(hes an MP) and looked at several sites online ( goarmy, military, etc...).

Thank you for your time

Not sure who posted that, but it is most definitely bogus. You think anyone would choose an MOS with a casualty rating like that? Research is your friend. In the end it is ultimately your decision. I can't vouch for any of the other MOS's but absolutely will never regret my time as an Infantryman. About the only thing I'd trade the last 6 years for would be to have some of my brothers back. Only the good die young, but casualties are a part of war. As long as you have a good head on your shoulders and stay alert you should be fine. The other 10% is out of your hands.

If you like being wet, cold, dirty, and hungry. If you like being covered in insect bites and laying in on an OP. If you like running your ass off, and humping up mountains with 120+ lbs on your back when you think you can't go any more you would love the Infantry. You will experience some of the best and worst moments of your life, you'll test your mettle, no day is like the last. At times you'll absolutely hate it, and you'll look over at your peers and know that they are at least as miserable as you are and you'll move on knowing that they got your back. It is a brotherhood, and it is something that is earned.

Quitters need not apply, if you like to slack you will fail and fail hard. This is a job best suited for the "A type" personality, the go-getters. If you're interested look into it. But definitely do your research! Also, check in HERE and tell us and tell us some more about yourself. If you have any more questions about the Infantry I can be of help. No matter what you choose though you will not be disappointed. The Cav Scouts I've worked with were very motivated high speed individuals as well.

Best of luck.
