we i'm deploying next week, got all my RFI done alot of pre-deployment training already. is there any must have shit is should know? i already got iPOD for entertainment, alot of supplies etc. what is some good shit i should bring to make hell a little better?

Its all according to where you go... some have access to a bunch of stuff and some barely get their mail in a timely manner. There are websites set up to "take care" of you while you are there as in a pen pal or such. Keep in touch with us and when you have questions we will direct you to some good sites.

I know my "Stryker" loves his iPod and Game Boy... they are great forms in entertainment.

if your heading to Iraq or Afgan from an ole timers point of view since I did not have this option flying to NAM is be alert, don't be a smart arse, take care of your hygiene and pay attention to detail.....iPOD LOL it is unreal what today's soliers go to war with, might as well stay home and play video games. Seriously I carried around a 80 pound ruck and you guys carry body armor, knee pads, elbow pads, laptops, iPOD's and weapon's that shoot around corners...what a way to go to war.

Seriously don't trust a freaking soul, remember these people are out to ruin your day and maybe kill your young arse.....and stay away from the women...one good way to ruin your day. I remember in NAM they used to say that mamason [spelling] used to have razor blades you know where.....

Oh and yes deffinately bring the baby wipes....Be Safe young man, we are proud of you.

Bring more than one happy sock, after a while its less a "Girlfriend" and more of a weapon that can bring about blunt force trauma.

Did someone forget to tell me that my M16 could shoot around corners? That would have helped.

SSG Ivey has a point - don't know your MOS, but if you are a grunt remember that you may have to carry everything that you take. It's not bad for the first mile or two, but after a couple of weeks every ounce counts!
