No not 0-5's and above. Any officer in the field is permited to carry a hand gun. Now as far as enlisted, you usually have to have a certain MOS or be in a Specialized unit ( Special Forces, Ect.) Now as far as you brining you own, i wouldnt recomend it.

MP's carry hand guns as well, when my unit went they were told not to bring their own. Although many purchased them when they went over there (not in regs.) They could not bring them back though they would have gotten into a hell of a lot of trouble if they were caught bringing one back or an extra side arm on them.
