Do many WO's apply for OCS?
Here's the specific situation: I need 22 hours to graduate from College, this means in about a year or so I will have my degree, so I could apply for OCS (after completing flightschool), but if I'm a WO, will I have any chance of getting accepted?

Re: Do many WO's apply for OCS?
Thanks Brad. My biggest reasoning in wanting to do this is I'd really like to have a command some day, from what i understand WO's aren't going to command anything bigger than a deatail, if I'm incorrect please correct me.

Re: Do many WO's apply for OCS?
Just my two cents on the subject, AS a WO and being an aviator I once thought of applying for OCS then as I was researching our unit placed several LTs on FAC3 status wht this means is they do not get to fly actual aircraft but only have to fly simulator time in order to stay current in the aircraft. The reason for this was to allow the aircraft to be used for Warrants. Thats when I realized that the whole reason for me joining the WO ranks was to fly. So the morale of this story if you want to fly go Warrant.
Okay so I lied I actually have more than 2 cents to put in. You say Warrants will only command a detail at the most, Well I will say to you this is not true As a Waarant your job is to become as technically and tactically proficient in your job as humanly possible. One of the most respected command positions is PIC Pilot IN Command I will tell you that a PIC can and I emphasize CAN be much harder and stressful than any platoon leader/commmand slot out there. -RED BULL |

As a WO I will agree with my fellow WO. I have more then enough college to apply to OCS but I never will. In my Troop we have an LT that was once a CW2 and switched over its not that hard to do really. If that is the route you want to go, then go for it.

Chief, I have to tell you, you guys have it made. When I was a private our PA showed up reporting for duty, he was a CW-3. He reported the the LTC and said, "Sir, I do medicine, I don't do army". That made my mind u that the best position to be in the army was in the warrent ranks. At least there you guys get to do your jobs and not detailed for something else.
