How is it possible
I just came from an Army Surplus store here in town and they have and are selling the New Army ACU already, How is it a store can get them and sell them before all of our troops get them.

Re: How is it possible
I believe that they can also purchase them from the maker...not sure though. I think w/ the Army its just a matter of implementation & obtaining mass quantities. A surplus store may by, say 50, but the Army needs to have them in the hundreds of thousands. I've heard though that upper level officers have started wearing them now.

Re: How is it possible
I'd be willing to bet that they are knock offs. I bet if you did a stare and compare with a G.I. issue ACU that you will find small subtle differences. An example would be, and this is from memory, M65, jacket, field, mens and some other backwards printing. I would also bet that the ACU in the surplus store doesn't have a label and if it does, it's not authentic.JMHO

Re: How is it possible
If it's got a Made in Malaysia tag it's a bloody copy, just like any other fashionable piece of garment.
Surely the surplus store supplier went with a picture and had copies manufactured. Other possibility is that the stuff was not accepted for some quality reason and put on the reject pile. |

Re: How is it possible
Before the Marines new Digi Cammies first came out, I walked into a surplus store and found the very new pattern, after closer examination I discoverd that they were just knock offs with the same kind of pattern, and they were not authorized for wear. My advise is to stay away from these unless you want to use them for hunting or some weird kinky role play.
