World War II ribbons
Does anyone know where I can go to determine what a ribbon bar is for? I have found tons of sites, but I cannot find the particular ribbon I am researching. From left to right, the colors are gold, blue, white, gold, yellow, black, yellow, green, white, gold, skinny blue, skinny white, skinny gold. It would mean a great deal to my mom and her siblings to learn what this ribbon means on their father infantry coat. Thanks!

Re: World War II ribbons
Like Banander wrote, It would be a big help to know what theater he served in. Africa, Europe or the Pacific. The color scheme doesn’t make much sense for a United States ribbon. Maybe it’s a foreign award?

He was in Europe. I found an Army Surplus store that said if I bring it in they may be able to identify it. We were able to find all the other ribbons on the web, but this one eludes us!!

Re: World War II ribbons
Can you scan the ribbon and post it here?
I have exhausted almost all my references and came up with zippo. Still searching. If your guy IDs it please share. |

Re: World War II ribbons
It sounds to me like a commemorative, state award, or foreign. So far I haven't been able to track down that combination. The combination of that many colors without red (a common color in ribbons) is a puzzler, not to mention the differing thickness colors.

Re: World War II ribbons
I checked out all the WWII ribbons and medals, I can't even find any commemoratives that are close. It has to be a foreign award. Take a picture of it and post it. Then we can probably identify it for you.

Re: World War II ribbons
I still can't find anything as well. I've gone through the all the allied nations awards and decorations, ribbons as well he could have been awarded . . . and still nothing.
With the varying stripe width this should be easy to ID. I collect militaria and have quizzed (cut and pasted the description) experts and again nothing. |

Re: World War II ribbons
A picture speaks a thousand words. Too bad the poster hasn’t provided one. I can’t find anything like it either, although some British WW II ribbons have a strange color scheme and stripes of varying widths.
