Pi Star Son coming home!!
Just wanted to let you all know, my son Ryan is getting a 10 day leave and will be home by Oct 10th - 12th. I am so happy. It is unexpected since he has only been in Iraq since late August, but I haven't seen him since May. He said they was pretty much forcing them to take the leave, because he was wanting to save his time up to have a bigger leave later. He did say tho that they, themselves, wasn't doing much and he was really bored.
I am just glad he will be home when a lot of the election things are going to be going on, it makes me feel better anyway.
Just wanted to share my good news, maybe if I get a chance, will show him this site.

Thanks for all your replies. I am so excited that I know when I first see him I am going to start bawling and I don't cry well. lol
We (him & I ) talked before about me getting something going at the school I work for and he attended. Well today, I talked to the editor of our school paper, and while he is home they want to do an interview with him, for being a former student and a current soldier in Iraq. He will love it. He used to be so shy, but by joining the Army, it has really brought him out of his shell.

On another note regarding this, someone I chat with on the Ft. Drum site told me today that they are starting to push their R&R's. Does anyone have a clue why?? Believe me I am happy he is coming home, but I thought it would be a lot later and maybe not even to home, but to somewhere like Quatar.
Just wondering about the rush...

The 1st BCT (10th MD) is trying to get the 2 wk R&R done quick. Have a great time while he's home!
My son said he's gonna spend his entire 2 weeks with his girlfriend (in NJ) and not come home(to NE), so I hope any other parent that get a chance to be with their kid cherishes the whole time they have together!
