Re: Graduated
Congrats and good luck! As a new infantry soldier, care to share your thoughts on your training experience with the board? There's been some contraversy about Army boot camp. I'm curious to see if, in your opinion, the training you went through was what you thought it would be/think it should be.

Re: Graduated
yes basic and ait was together called OSUT One Station Unit Training. The training was hard we did FTX and it was 21 degrees and freezing rain. We had to gaurd the gate in the rain. We were High Speed Low Stress! You do atleast 100 to 200 pu's a day. We got smoked in full battle rattle with rucks! PT was fun i got a 299 on my afpt one guy got 349 and graduated with the highest score he's goin to airborne then rip! PT was good 30's-60's and 60-120's were fun run 30 walk 60 then run 60 seconds and walk 120. We had this one ds name DS Evans who made drill sergeant of the cycle. he has one lung and shrapnel in his face. The whole company is afriad of this guy! Theres really not much to tell other then it was ok. We rucked over 50 miles during our entire FTX. I shot sharpshooter 35 out of 40, never really shot anything before.

Seriously, Good Job and Good Attitude!
Dont let the idjits getcha down. You're gonna run into lots of em during your travels in any service. Dont forget to, occasionally, make fun of a POG. It's expected, part of the culture, and it's one of the few perks available to Grunts. -Mac |

Re: Graduated
Congrats!! My son also graduated from Ft. Benning, but got stationed at Ft. Drum. He said that training at Benning was rough, but he made it.
And by the way, looking at your screen name, I talked to him yesterday at work, and he rode in his first Blackhawk on a mission and loved it!! Just wanted to pass that along!! ![]() -Pam |
