IMFcry Discharge of Personnel not meeting medical fitness standards

I was wondering if somebody could explain what I'm looking at....I have the discharge paper of a relative who died several years ago and it states that his discharge was for personnel who did not meet procurement medical fitness standards. He was discharged after only 26 days. His paper shows that he had an honorable discharge but had this along with what I mentioned about the medical procurement....SPD JFT AR 635-200 Discharge of personnel who did not meet procurement of medical fitness standards. His MOS was Infantryman. What could have been wrong medically for him to be discharged so soon after starting Basic Training? Thanks

Re: Discharge of Personnel not meeting medical fitness standards

AR 635-200 covers enlisted seperations. SPD is the acronym for Seperation Program Designator. It is the codes used to show why someone is seperated from service. JFT is the code for failure to meet Physical Standards. This could be many things, most common is failure to meet the Army requirement for the APFT. JFT falls under this descriptor:

"signifies involuntary separation for failure to meet established physical
readiness standards but do not identify a specific existing reason for separation. They are
included in the Army SPD inventory for possible future use should the need arise.
Instructions for use will be provided by HQDA message or other directive announcing
implementation."

Basically, I can't really tell you what was wrong with him all I could do is guess. It could've been a number of things. I wish I could answer better than that...
