WWII infantry insignia
I'm going through my dad's army uniform ranks and insignias. I came across an enlisted infantry collar insignia. This is different from others I've seen. It has a cross hatch pattern in the background and "HZ" under the crossed rifles. Can anyone clue me in as to the differences and what the HZ signifies? He enlisted in the Illinios NG in Jan, 1941. He has a collar insignia with "ILL" stamped on it, and that is self explanatory. Thanks.
