Pi Wink1 Don't be mad at me too much...

Hi, guys!
I hope you don't be mad at me too much for the questions I'm about to ask you - 'cause they seem to be really stupid. But I'm a foreigner civilian who is trying to write about the Military life (specifically in Fort Benning) and I'd appreciate if you could help me. So here we go:
1. Can a Service member have off post weekends free (or national holidays) during Airborne School?
2. And what about days off while he is in hold over for R.I.P.?
3. If a Service member goes AWOL after Airborne School graduation while he is in hold over for R.I.P., whom is he going to be punished by if he turns himself in after that? By his Company C.O. of the 507th Infantry Regiment or the 75th Ranger Regiment's?
4. How many bunks are inside a single room of the Airborne School barracks?
5. Where the latrine is located in Airborne School? Inside the barracks building or outside? If outside, is a Service member allowed to go there by himself when the lights are turned off?
6. Is a Service member allowed to talk inside the chow hall of the Airborne School or are the Instructors strict about not to give permission for that even there?
Well, that's all for now. If you want to get me smoked after answering these questions, no problem. I'll be happy doing that!... Thank you very much for your cooperation!

1. Can a Service member have off post weekends free (or national holidays) during Airborne School?

Yeah, you get the weekends off during BAC.

2. And what about days off while he is in hold over for R.I.P.?

There was no hold over when I went through RIP. Don't know.

3. If a Service member goes AWOL after Airborne School graduation while he is in hold over for R.I.P., whom is he going to be punished by if he turns himself in after that? By his Company C.O. of the 507th Infantry Regiment or the 75th Ranger Regiment's?

Who gives a shit? AWOL-ers are cowards and not worthy of any consideration. They should rot in Hell.

4. How many bunks are inside a single room of the Airborne School barracks?

I think it was two back in my day. (BAC class 14-84)

5. Where the latrine is located in Airborne School? Inside the barracks building or outside? If outside, is a Service member allowed to go there by himself when the lights are turned off?

I'd hazard to say that all government buildings have shitters in them. They even have running water. I doubt anybody would bust your balls for using them.

6. Is a Service member allowed to talk inside the chow hall of the Airborne School or are the Instructors strict about not to give permission for that even there?

Depends on the Black Hats in question. Easiest thing to do regardless is to keep your man pleaser closed, stuff your face, and get back to training.

Well, that's all for now. If you want to get me smoked after answering these questions, no problem. I'll be happy doing that!... Thank you very much for your cooperation!
Hope that helps.

I was waiting for Covert to chime in. But damn, he seems to think the Army is still in the 19th century. Are the latrines outside and can a service member go by himself? LMAO, sorry but that really struck me as funny.

08-11-2006 07:04 Oh you guys are too bad....!! I can tell you patrols...fighting.. trying to avoid IED's...ect., my son has the scars to back that up!! I will ask my son next week about Benning, that is where he trained, and going back there for more training, (marksmenship) but while deployed, 2 to a trailer, had a bathroom/shower room that was shared, but I bet that women had their own...but not sure.

Re: Don't be mad at me too much...

- Hey, Grimmy. I guess you're just being nice saying my questions are "interesting"... Anyways, thank you for being the first to try to help.
- SGRock, you made me laugh...
- Covertness, you are the man! Thank you very much for your answers.
- No problem, Top. I guess I should have explained better my doubt about the latrine. It's because I've read about those rape cases, in which women's latrine (at least overseas) seems to be located outside their barracks. And I also have read that Service members who are in some training schools are not allowed to go anywhere without their battle buddies or being escorted by a superior. I guess I made a mess about this.
- And don't worry, Pam. These guys may be "too bad", but I love their style... I'd appreciate if your son could help me as well, but don't bother him
too much about this. Thanks for your help too and congratulations for him!

Except for combat zones or other areas where they are in the field I dont know of many places where the Heads (what we in Naval Service call Latrines) are outside of the living quarters, even if they are communal Heads on a floor full of rooms or a squad bay. And dont mind me, most people here will tell you I find humor in some pretty weird things.

Re: Don't be mad at me too much...

Sounds to me like you've heard some Army stuff from someone and you're just trying to find out whether you should believe any of what they said.

Latrines ... only the green latrine in combat or the sandbox if you're talking about today's actions. In combat you can go months without seeing a latrine, indoor or outdoor...you just do what you gotta do.

Here's an idea for you ... maybe call a recruiter and sign up to see Ft. Benning from the ground up. Fun Travel and Adventure...All expenses paid ....lemmeno if you go.
